“Good tune” of Urals operator
03 April 2006 |
Utel, the largest telecommunication operator in the Urals, offers the “Good tune” service to its subscribers, which is based on Bercut X-tones musical services platform. An innovative Ring Back Tone service, promoted under the “Good tone” name, will allow Utel subscribers to replace ordinary ringback tone (monotonous beeps) with a favorite tune.
Thus, an individual RBT-tune can be assigned to each subscriber or to a group of subscribers (“work”, “family”, “friends”) according to their musical preferences.
The subscribers can choose tunes from the list via SMS and USSD queries as well as on the operator’s website. The cost of a tune depends on its popularity. Besides, a subscriber can purchase several tunes and store them in his personal list for a year. In that case if none of the melodies, provided by Utel, matches subscriber preferences, he/she has the option to upload his own tune.
The RBT service has a number of non-standard functions. The “jukebox” is one of them, which plays back the tunes chosen by the subscriber in random order, while “a gift for a friend” allows the subscriber to purchase an RBT tune for another subscriber. If a subscriber wants he can buy “a melody for two” which will be automatically played back when the two subscribers call each other.
— Selection of the platform supplier was determined by broad functionality of Bercut product and short terms of its installation, which allowed us to be the first to provide this new interesting service to subscribers in the Urals region,” — Alexander Krasnosheev, the Deputy Commercial Director of the inter-regional cellular telecommunication branch of JSC “Uralsvyazinform”, comments on putting this service into operation. “Our company has used Bercut systems for quite some time and now we are pretty sure in their high operation capacity and fast payback of our investments.
Launching the “Good tune” service was not the first joint project of Utel and Bercut. Bercut’s innovative solutions have been used on the Urals operator’s network for a long time, and proved their efficiency,” — Vladimir Filipyev, Bercut Product Director, recapitulates. “Our goal is to continue this mutually beneficial cooperation, and we will develop and improve our products in the future.”
